You should go to college now, because by statistics people who work after high school will forget about college and continue working forever.

I guess your friends advice for you to go straight to college is because they are afraid that work may interfere later on with your plan to go to college!
You ought to know yourself better, whether you could be distracted by other pursuits instead of a college education. Can you be honest with yourself and does your ultimate goal in life need a minimum of a college qualification? I think you are aware that you cannot go very far armed with only a High School Diploma, right? So your friends who advised you, had your interest at heart.
If you are very sure that you will move on to college after a short working stint, then go with your heart now but do not forget your objective!

I didn't go straight to college after high school. It was the stupidest thing I ever did.. I thought I'd work for a year, was so sick of books, and it turned out to be 10 years before I went back and got my degree! Do it now, and pursue your career early...

Go now or go never.
You will get caught up in "life" and never make it to college, even if you think you will.
You have the whole rest of your life to work, but only a certain time in which it will be easiest to succeed in college. Yes you can go later, but it will be much much harder.
Please go now, and do yourself a favor.
Your family is supporting you, even though they disagree with you.

Please don't go to college. There are already too many students in college who don't want to be there. Try working for a while and then you'll appreciate college much more and you'll do much better because you will understand the alternatives.

it's your life not theirs. if you feel like you need to take time off then take it. not everyone is ready to go off to college right after high school. i've heard work experiece help transition into college easier. the decision is yours ultimately, they just want you to succeed and have a good future, there's nothing wrong with that.
