Are you referring to Pavlov's dog? In that experiment the dog reacted to a bell I do believe. He salivated because he knew when he heard the bell (or saw the light bulb come on...can't remember it has been too many years since highschool) he would be fed. After awhile he only need get the stimulus and would salivate even if the food wasn't given to him.

We are all like Pavlov's dog in many ways. I salivate just at the smell of good food. I don't need to know I'm going to get any.

Yes, it was proven by Pavlov Theory is about conditional training.
In his experiment dogs were trained to salivate when they hear a bell ring. I hope this helps you.
