He would have beleived that someone should give both prisoner and prison guard the message so if the person being torured died, he would be saved.

Jesus lived in a time where there was torture in public prisons, and he did not speak out against it at all, merley to be a good citizen, support your county and follow the laws of your nation over you.

For those being done wrong to take and suffer.

He would have beleived that governments are ran by men and men and governments fight wars. he did not come to change the political part of any nation, only to change the life and the religion of the people.

And of course ones person idea of torture may be anothers idea of College faternity pranks. alot of what I kept hearing being called torture was not as bad as what we did to freshmen in college

i'm not sure

he was never recorded on the subject

i suspect that He would agree that in war their are many things done (like shooting soldiers from the other side) that are not "good" and wouldn't be done outside of war

as Jehova, Jesus often commanded war with horrible consequences

i think it simplistic and a misunderstanding of Christianity to assume Jesus' position on matters of conducting a war

what do you think Jesus' position would be on ordering the deadly attacks on okinawa

how about Jesus' position on the deadly bombing and invasion that led to the liberation of hundreds of prisoners in death camps

it is easy to pretend that these are easy decisions and that the virtuous position is obvious but it is not so

what is meant by "torture"?
and certainly it wouldn't matter if the prisons are public or secret

what would you do to keep us safe?
what would be your plan?
would it work as well?
would it be more or less humane?

hard questions, not easy, not obvious

In her response, "nan" said Jesus would help and said her source was "eye for an eye."

What Jesus actually said about the "eye for an eye" passage in Leviticus was:

"You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". But I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. (Matthew 5:38-39)"

As usual, the Christians are warping His words to suit a violent, sinful agenda.

He would not help. He would beg the torturers to stop.

And he would love and forgive them.

This question must have been posted by some Islamic activist. But just to quench your thirst for controversy, I will tell you that religion changes with the times. Just like Islam allows to fight wars; likewise Christianity would allow torture. Now, Jesus would be appall and would say that He does not want to have any part of his movement, neither of Islam.

Jesus would be against it, but then again he could make the people in the secret prisons confess without torture. But who am i to judge my king, Jesus loves everybody, and thats all I know.

Jesus said: love thy enemy!

I don't think his position has changed since George Bush became President.
