I just saw that a Marlins pitcher just threw a no hitter..and it got me to thinking..since walks dont' count..would it be worth it to just walk the other 8 guys every at bat to get to the pitcher..then get him out..3 times around per inning..each inning till you throw the no hitter...now because of the 24 walks per inning it would result in 21 runs per inning..3 would be left on base..times 9 innings is 189 runs..would you give up 189 runs to throw a no hitter?

That would be history in four ways

1. You get the no-hitter
2. You got a Lose and still threw a no hitter
3. You set a record for most runs allowed ever
4. You set a record for walks in a game

just amagine the pitch count ... 96+ pitches per inning
witch would result in 864+ pitches

that would be a sore arm.......

so the answer is a definte NO

Sorta Flies in the face of competitive athletics. No Athlete would ever do that. No Manager would ever ALLOW a pitcher to do that. No front office would ever allow a pitcher to do it...and i imagine MLB wouldnt allow it either.. in short, it could never happen. I know guys have like thrown no hitters and had like 9 walks, but those occured in flow of game, and actually go to show you how the guy threw the NoNo, he had good stuff, but was wild and guys prolly swung and missed alot because they had no idea where ball was going, and when he wasnt getting people out like that he was missing and walking people...its a lame NoNo, but that would even be more acceptable to do than deliberatly walking people t throw one.

years ago andy hawkins lost a no-hitter 4-1 due to errors and walks. his next start he pitched 11 innings of 1-hit ball before giving up a homer in the 12th. in all he pitched 21 innings, gave up 2 hits and was 0-2. ask him. as if you really need to.

Even a pitcher could probably manage a hit in 27 at-bats.

no way, i think the manager will take you out by then. It is not worth it. All that really should matter is the scoreboard, or in short the win and loss column. winning the orld series is the goal of every team right.

I never thought about that. It's kinda funny. No one would ever do that though cuz pitchers are more concerned about getting their team a win, not a no hitter.Thats a good idea though.I haven't thought about that before.

You play the game to win! Not to throw no hitters!

Hehehehehehe! That is hysterical, could you imagine, I would be laughing my a s s off, but the pitching coach and manager would be flipping out! I'm sure they wouldn't find that as amusing as some of us.

Heh heh, no, I doubt it is realistic, plus I would pinch hit for the guy you strike out, so there goes you no-hitter
