It all depends: an 8th of what? It has 8 eighths of an inch, 32 eights of a quarter inch, 2/3 eights of a foot.
The 8ths of a year in an inch are undefined, as are the eights of a gallon, hectare or Tesla.
If I'm lucky, perhaps I'll get 80 eights of a point from this answer.

More than seven, fewer than nine. There are an integral number, and there is a very good reason why they are called eighths.
P.S. 1/8" = 9 points. Do I get 10 points?

Eighths of what? Do you really think people are going simply assume you mean "eighths of an inch" when you could mean "eighths of a foot" or "eighths of a meter?" Okay, you're probably right, but at least try to be subtle about it.
