I'm planning on writing a book about a guy who gets married and finds out his wife is cheating on him with his uncle and at the same time his close sister that lives with him and his wife is getting into trouble while the rest of his family can't endure what is going on and (not literally) go crazy-- think this will turn out crappy? Be honest, would you read anything like this?

(as those before me have already said) it sounds like a pretty interesting storyline. I'm trying to write books/short stories myself. That's a very good starting place, and I have sure doubts about your story ending up 'crappy.' :)

The bad things are always hard to hear, but bear with me.
The thing is, I don't think so. The plot doesn't seem right, to be frank.I think you would do better if you didn't add the sister(or if the sister wasn't in trouble). The poor guy is getting on with enough in the story.

It would be nicer if the uncle was also his superior at the office, and tries to give him a hard time while the guy tries working harder to get a promotion and earn more money(we could say that the wife is a very materialistic woman, and so goes to the uncle as her is a richer and more "mature" man.)You could portray the guy as gullible and weak at the begginning of the story, but then show how he slowly gets tougher and begins to learn to deal with real life issues. You could also write the story's chapters in changing character perspectives(For example, the first chapt the guy's views, the second, the uncles, the third, the wife's,and so on and so forth).

You are kidding, right? If you are not kidding, think of the tons of books, movies and soap operas that follow the exact same story that you want to write. A book like this one will not turn crappy because it already is crappy. Unless... Wait a minute, you can write a parody of the story that you have in mind. It has been done before, but, at least, it is not as common as a story about a man who is married and whose wife is cheating on him. Yeah, make fun of all those soap operas, be ironic.

I Think that there are about a million and one too many books and movies about couples cheating on each other, and so on and so on and so on. Why don't you write book about a couple that is having trouble with their relationship but stay together because they are committed to each other. That would certainly help with the variety.

Writing a good book means a lot of things... but more importantly the style of writing... the storyline is important but it is the writing style that keeps a reader wanting to read on and finish your book... what if you have a good storyline but youwrite badly... it is all about how you write your story....

It is the story teller that keeps audiences awake, not the story....

It won't turn out crappy if you don't make it cheesy. Don't set the whole book on the problems, lighten it up with comic relief. And make the problems as serious as they are in real life.

That sounds interesting to me. Would you write it in the perspective of a particular charater? I think it would be more effective that way! I would read it!! Let me know when it's published!

It's too commonplace to be interesting.

Try to invent something unique, instead of just describing life in an average American family.

Well it doesn't catch my fancy, but I know people who like stories like that. I guess that as long as it's not absolutley confusing and you're good at writing, go ahead and go for it!
