At one point it was divided in four by the Allied Forces. The US, Britian, France, and the Soviet Union controlled Germany after WW2. The Soviets half became part of the Iron Curtian and the Berlin wall built to keep E. Germans from going into W. Germany. In 1989, Reagan demanded the wall torn down while the Soviets were going bankraupt.
