Depends on what period of time you are talking about. By the pre-colonial period, the Cherokee (together with several other nations, such as the Choctaw and others - known in history as the Five Civilized Tribes) had become largely agricultural, growing corn and other types of plants and vegetables for consumption and hunting to supplement their diet. They lived in wooden houses in settlements that were often walled-in. They used various types of weapons, including bow and arrow, spears, blow-guns (they were known for their accuracy up to 60 ft. away), sling-shots and others. For entertainment, they had various games, including one in which a bowl with dried beans colored white on one side and black on the other was shaken, with the objective of trying to get all the beans to come up on the same colored side. The scoring was complex (different combinations of colors had different point values) and the person who had the highest score at the end of a certain number of rounds was the winner. They also played a game where they tried to throw a javelin through a round disk that was rolled at a distance, to knock it down. And their most famous game was a Lacrosse type game that was taken very seriously and was played in teams between different communities and even different tribes.

Another interesting point is that the Cherokee were the only native American nation known to have their own written language.

Check on the web for the Museum of the Cherokee; they might have more information you can use. Good luck.
