Now that sounds like judicial activism. Unless the state requires it, there is no basis in law for such a decision. So the Judge is telling people to do things based on the judge's personal beliefs.

Now, if there actually is a state law that prohibits remarriage within the six months, that's a different story. But that depends on the state laws involved, and only a licensed attorney can give you legal advice.
