One of two things. Either a bad caliper or a collapsed rubber brake line. I would suggest pulling the wheels and checking the brakes. The side where the brakes are worn the worst, I would replace the calliper and the rubber line and also replace brakes on both sides of the front. Good luck.

If they are disc brakes the disc is probably not smooth and when you step on pedal the brake pads will only grab when they touch the high spots.

dont listen to the...ok first adjust ur brake lever, 2nd clean it off, 3rd check ur brake pads for uneven wear (ie. thinner at one end than the other), 4th lubricate the pins that the pads slide on (if applicable), 5th stop hitting ur damn brakes so hard noob
