Naw, you aren't a dinosaur. I, too enjoy writing personal letters, and especially enjoy receiving one. Unfortunately, most of the folks I know don't like writing letters, so if I am to stay in touch without phoning, I have to go the e-mail route. IMing isn't so bad, either, but as with e-mailing, it lacks that personal touch.

I guess you mean writing in longhand. Because I write all the time - at least 4000 or 5000 words per day. But no, I do not miss longhand, especially when you consider my awful penanship.

And although I admit to being in the worst 10% of handwriting, there's a reason, and I'm sure others fall into this catagory too. My hands were injured a number of years ago in an industrial accident, and handwriting is extremely painful for me.

It's the exact reason why I learned to use the computer and learned to type because it is the only way I can effectively communicate in writing.

Of course I still make notes and memos in longhand, but even they're legible only to me. But I wiil allow that I do admire and envy those with incredibly beautiful penmanship. But frankly - I think there are very few around.

Totally agree. I make a point these days of carrying a notebook and fountain pen into meetings with me rather then a laptop. I may look archaic, sat in a room full of people running Windows XP on their computers... but I just tell them I'm running Tablet PC '82 and after that raises a few chuckles people start to complement me on my handwriting. It never ceases to amaze me - I don't have the neatest or most florid handwriting - how many people comment when you write rather then type.

I miss the 'emotion' you could see in a letter that someone sent you... apart from using CAPITALS or sarcasm, it's hard to tell what someone's thinking in an email, but the way they write by hand can tell you so many things. Besides, I've sent letters to people before when I was crying as I wrote them, and the ink always runs.... you never get that sort of give away to someone's feelings with an email :-)

Well i guess that friendships do come to an end. 3 years ago was younger and now he's grown up and changed. Everyone does at highschool. But, you can't change who he is. You'll have to change who YOU are. -First of all, speak ur mind. Take a deep breath, let it out and be prepared to face the concequences. Don't scream it though, just say it calmy and confidently. But when u do, add wit to it so HE'S the one who'll look like a fool. -Because that's what'll u have to do. If he's making u look like an idiot, and he knows he's hurting u, then he is no friend so u can't just sit bk and take it. U have to fight fire with fire. Don't make it too exstreme just say it like it is. -Make new friends. Pick em right. Maybe even try make friendds with his friends if they're in ur classes seperate from his, so when all his friends are closer to u than they are to him, then they will see ur point of view. I know these might seem too spiteful to do, but remember how can he be ur friend after all this, u can't sit down and pretend like it dont matter coz IT WILL continue gauranteed. I would of suggested to just talking about it, but he seems too immature to learn. So i guess u might have to just Speak Ur Mind nd follow these and...Good Luck x

It's dying out fast. I love writing letters but people are too lazy to invest time in maintaining frienships. Instant this and instant that. txt messages have played their part, the art of conversation is also dying as people tend to say what is popular not what is true changing thier oppinions to fit the majority.

I love wrting letters ..Jessica my friend from Chicago ,we write letters all the time..It's soo more more personal and through your hand writting you can sence whatthe other person was feeling ...and you can do drawings and pics and send them. Emailing is quicker and less expenive but to read what someone put thought into.. it means soo much more.
Wanna become Pen Pals ?? ...just a thought .. Names Kevin nice to meet you btw.

I love writing to people, people love receiving letters and postcards: these are kept whereas emails are deleted, hard to find or inaccesible all the time: letters can be passed down the family. Letter writing should be taught at school.

Long live the letter!
