It's not actually instant replay, it's computer animated. Was wondering how they know what the exact trajectories are and how accurate is it?

I guess they track it with cameras, but as a viewer, it seems to lack a lot of credibility. It's hard to judge based on a re-enactment. Especially when the ball spot in the animation is stretched. It makes me wonder...

But they used to show real instant replays ("Mac cam"), and it was pretty difficult to judge whether the ball touched the line or not. So I could understand why they chose to use the animated replays this time around.

Severals cameras linked to a computer are placed around the court and track the ball. These are used to recreate the ball's path.

They have camera all around the court and a computer to use the info from the cameras to know exactly where the ball landed. I think it is a great improvement.
