Its against the law for a Doctor to reveal anything unless he has your consent. Otherwise you could sue him, let hope he does you would become a millionaire.

It doesn't matter whether you are under 18 or over 18, a doctor can NOT reveal anything to anybody, not even your parents. It's illegal!! You don't even have to ask the doctor to keep in a secret, by law he has too. It's doctor/patient confidentiality. Don't listen to the people that are telling you, if your parents ask, he can tell or if your a minor he can tell. There has to be a signed waiver or court documents to allow him to release any of that information.

Doctors aren't aloud to say anything. Doctors have to /keep their patients confidentiality or they can lose their jobs. The only way that they can tell anyone anything is if your life is in danger. And it's not, so don't worry about it. If the doctor did decide to blab his/her mouth, you can actually sue them for a breach in confidentiality. Not that I agree with suing or anything, but I was just letting you know what could happen so the chances of your Doctor are very slim. Don't worry & have a great night!

You doctor is not allowed to discuss anything about your medical record, or the reason for any of your visits with him, with anyone, including your parents without your specific written consent, unless the records are supoenaed to court for a testimony. It's called "patient-doctor confidentiality", and he is obligated by law and his licensing board to comply with. If a doctor fails to comply, they can face penalities and be disciplined, and may even lose their license to practice medicine.
You should, however, be honest with your parents. It will go a lot farther in the maintenence of trust.

Nobody on here knows what they are talking about. If you live in the US your parents can talk to your doctor about anything. However if you are over 14 your sexual health (virgin not virgin, pregnant not pregnat, std's, etc....) is strictly confidential. You can tell your doctor anything about your sex life and he/she cannot reveal any of this to your parents.

i am not sure, but i would think that it would depend upon your age. i am not sure if the doctor has to devulge information if the patient is under 18 or not, but i would talk to him. but the best thing for you to do would be talk to your parents and tell them the truth. you should not have to keep anything a secret from them. they should be there for you as a support, you need them to help you make the right decisions. yes they are going to be angry, and rightfully so, but they might be able to talk to you and tell more about the dangers of having sex (if you are not ready for it) good luck sweetie

I believe your right to privacy falls under the patient privacy law HIPPA. The only way your physician will release information is if you are at risk of putting your life or the life of another in jeopardy.
However, there may be exceptions to HIPPA rules for minors based on individual state laws.

If the doctor has good ethics, he will keep it between you and him, and if you want to you can ask him to not tell anyone just to make sure that it is understood that you want it that way, after all it is not their business. Don't worry.

Yes the doctor can say. Your parents are your guardians therefore they can ask anything. Your doctor may not say though. Many wont.
