Do parents know their jobs anymore?Or is the internet the new sex ed?

As a mother of an eleven year old, I ansewer things that I am forced to. I consider myself a very good mother but when you are on the way to a ballgame and the radio is on the "clean" version of a song that is talking about sex and drugs, what can you do to ignore it . I am honest with my child and try not express my outraged opinion of the crap that is on TV, the radio, the newspaper, or the public way of allowing almost anything to be acceptable. How do parents do their jobs if you fight everybodys rights to be a freak?

Well my mother actually did sit me down and explain things to me but I don't know if she just didn't make it interesting or what but I learned more from this girl Rita in homeroom. She was going out with a student at UW Madison and she explained everything in great detail.
Maybe it's like that on here. They've been told but some of the answers you get here are pretty amusing.

no parents do not do their jobs, they haven't been doing them for the last 20 years, in all the racial groups, everyone is lacking and yes tv, games, music and the net is teaching these kids sex, that is why the preditors have no problem time after time, getting kids both male and female to meet them for sex off the net even with all the shows done, the kids still go, cause parents aren't doing their job

I agree with kitty. Farther back than 20 years, more like 50.
I believe that parents honestly think they are protecting their kids when in fact they are hurting them more than they can imagine.
