You need the CD that came with it or look it up online to see if you can download something from their site.

It really depends on your connection. You have to put the firewall between your PC and the router if you have a home network.
{cable or DSL router} ===>firewall===>linksys router===>PCs
or
Linksys===>firewall===>wireless router or switch===>PCs
You can make a firewall out of an old PC and Linux. Or you can buy a decent used one on an online auction site.

When you configure the Router for the first time then itself you get the option to invoke Firewall on it.
If you wish you can use the CD that came with the router to invoke Security by doing the following :-
a) Turning of UPNP( Universal Plug and Play),
b) Changing your Admin Password.
c) Deactivate SSID broadcast( SSID is short for Service Set Identifier ).
d) Turn on the DMZ ( Demilitarized Zone ).
e) Filter MAC addresses.
f) Customize the SSID.
g) Update your firmware.
h) Reset the factory default.
i) Engage WEP.
j) Activate WPA.

It's automatically firewalled by default. A router is technically a "hardware firewall" as all ports are closed by default unless you open them.

the router IS a firewall
Because the router has the IP that your ISP provided you with
and the router assigns its own ip's to each computer that is connected to it
