I was terribly hurt and disillusioned that a straight-arrow government like we now have (most especially our fascinating and brilliant President) could have ever told us even the littlest fib.<

Um, yeah, not so much. I was surprised by the fact that the DoD issued a statement saying that they were going to start adhering to the Geneva Convention regarding the handling of prisoners.

Let's see. What's the track record so far.

Newspaper announces secret government program. Government denies secret program. Newspaper gets yelled at. A year or two later, government admits to secret program.

How many times have we gone through this loop? Four of five, so far.

yes and I bet they still have them, just moved to other nations, like Isreal, or somewhere in Russia or in Iraq itself.

We have always had secret bases and secret locatoins for 30 years.

Spies dealing with other spies have had thier own rules and lifes for decades.

Not suprised. No need for the public to know such things. We like our freedom, and do we really need to know how we keep it? I don't think so.

why should you be surprised? every government throughout history as well as right now have done this or are doing this. nothing new.
