I have a penpal from Ghana, (we e-mail) and she said that her favorite singer is Britney Spears. If she has the internet, don't you think that she would actually have a little clue about other newer singers or music? Such as Green Day? I don't really know, what do you think?

In some countries, yes. Depend on how much you have. But most countries down there get news about celebrities and stuff like that times later than us, sometimes years. I know this one guy from colombia, who didn't know about some recent movies and commented on newly released movies in his country, which turned out to be a couple years old over here.

Thats because, unlike most other countries around the world, the American people tend to be insatisfide with what they have, which is why there are so many groups/bands that emerge every year. The American public must constantly be fed different music every month, contrasting a country like Brazil, which listens to the same song for like 3 years. They tend to appreciate music longer than Americans. But then, that may be because America has such a diverse audience and a crop of emerging talent, not to mention the drive for money and success preached by the media.

It's great to know that you have a penpal from Ghana. However Ghana is not in South America. It's in Africa specifically West Africa.

If your friend emails you then I assume she has access to the internet so I don't get your question.

All the same if even you have access to the internet it would not necessarily mean that you would know who the new singers are.The person might not be interested in that type of music.I have access to the internet but there are alot of things i don't know.
