Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and its sequel New Moon. They're the first two books in a great series. Can't recommend them highly enough...they are books you can't put down. :)

Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld consisting of Uglies, Pretties, Specials.

Looking for Alaska by John Green

Any book by Sarah Dessen is great. My particular favorite is The Truth About Forever.

I read a really good book the other week called, "Adam & Eve & Pinch Me" by Ruth Rendell.. (don't worry it's not a religious book at all).. It is just a tale about a guy that scams women to pay his way..he gets in a relationship with rather well off ladies and promises to marry them etc..so they let him live in their houses and pay for him to do nothing and them before the wedding he fakes his own death and gets with another lady.. the story jumps between him and the 4 women he has relations with and how they all come to know each other and thier life tales etc.. Not usually the sort of book I'd read but once I started I could not put it down and it's not an overly thick book either... another great book is called "Marching Powder"..about a guy that gets caught drug trafficking and gets sent to a jail in a third world country..true story and absolutly fascinating!! another must read is "memiors of a geisha".. ohh and another I read when I was 15 for english and liked was a book called "Speaking to Miranda" a tale about a girl trying to find her biological mother.. takes her all around australia and new zealand.. really enjoyed that one!!
Good luck though..

The one book I'll never forget is 1984 by George Orwell. It fueled my dream of being a writer; that I would go underground, if necessary, to prevent such an degradation of the English language. If you like science fiction, I suggest The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury; I read it twice. And, for a little bit about most anything, I am still impressed with University of Success by Og Mandino. Check it out at the library as I think its out-of-print (shouldn't be!). Wander through its Table of Contents, read one of the 'lessons'. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's not dry. It's actually refreshing!
I hope these fit what you're looking for. I could give you a list! You are welcome to email me. I commend you for wanting to read! English class or not, you ASKED for suggestions - how wonderful!

A Spell For Chameleon by Piers Anthony is a wonderfully fun fiction story!

Have you read the Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien yet? It starts out a little slow but it builds up to a Great story, it should have been made into a movie when they made the Lord of the Rings movies, as it is where the story starts!

Hmmm...at 15 I read a lot of books by V. C Andrews...they are kinda like romance novels. I also liked anything by Christopher Pike....horror novels. The greatest book I read lately is called Place Last Seen. It is about a family whose daughter goes missing in the mountains.

Prozac Nation - Elizabeth Wurtzel
Straight Up and Dirty - Stephanie Klein.

Both are memoirs and very interesting. Coming from an 18 yr old, I believe I can kind of relate to the not too easy not too hard factor!

Hope I helped!!

How about "The Dark is Rising" series by Susan Cooper? They have lots of supernatural elements, as well as great plots and fascinating characters.

Best of all, they're not too hard or too easy to read.
