Can you vote for your mother? Or do you vote for who they choose?

I think we should start an underground movement and try and get a lot of people to vote for someone that doesn't really get a lot of prime time news coverage. That would be sick.

We should just choose someone....

Democracy says you may vote for anyone you choose, however, there are usually a minimum number of votes to actually make it on a printed ballot (at least in a primary election). For a general election, the person with the most votes (printed or write-in) wins.

There is that wonderful spot for a write in candidate so technically you could vote for whomever you choose. The bad part is why would you? If you did not vote for one of the major parties why bother at all??

We vote for who they choose. And then they choose who they want anyway. That electoral college makes it impossible for anybody but a Democrat or a Republican. Both parties are totally screwed up right now. Sad isn't it.

In one part of the UK you can't even vote for the party which currently makes up the government - hows that for democracy?

Not that i would want to with Blair in control.

Fair and free elections always were a bit of a myth... but especially since 2000 in the US

We vote for the lesser of 2 or more evils in most cases.

no we vote for who we choose if we are invovled with out political system. Or you can write your moms name is.
I wrote my own name in on a couple things this last election since I did not like any of the choices they gave me.

You can write in any candidate. I heard hearsay that donald duck won a county election in Florida one time.

you can vote for your mother, if your mother puts up a deposit and stands for election, sure...
