I bought a silk blouse in Vietnam and it has no washing instructions. Do I have to have it dry cleaned or can I wash it in cold water?

different kinds of silk (washed, noil, mix, etc) but it's safer to have it dry-cleaned though most can be hand-washed. but if you wash it, don't wring it after. splash some shampoo ---little bit (no conditioner alright, it's not hair hehe) wait for foam to dissappear when you scour it then it's ready. don't dry it under the sun to keep its luster and color. dry under a shade. if your silk fabric is woven tightly and had been washed before it has been made (i got no idea too lol), then it won't shrink, if it did, just little. silk is weakend by hot temperature and sweat. hope this helps.

It is best to wash silk with your hands in luke warm water with Woolite. Do not wring or twist fabric or it will be crushed when drying. Hang the blouse to dry while wet so that it will dry straight.

To stay on the safe side, I would have it dry cleaned.

You don't know what will happen to it if washed in water and if you really like the blouse, don't take that chance.

If its dry cleaned, you know that nothing will happen to it to mess it up. If put in water, the dye might run, it might shrink, you don't know.

I would play it safe and get it dry cleaned

I wouldn't take any chances i would take it to the dry cleaner i own a silk shirt also and mine say to dry clean so i would think all silk material would need to be dry cleaned for future references anything that does not have a tag and is nice and fine quality it is to be dry cleaned.

Wash it in warm water, add salt to it. Why? its to keep the colour in the blouse and let it to come off while your 1st time washing. hand wash it too. no machine and dont mix it with other cloths. the colour would stain other fabric.
