Oh, ok. Someone told me not nearly as many people listen to it in other countries. That sucks.

You could move to Berea, Kentucky, where bluegrass is very strong.

You can live in the hills, choose not to have a radio or tv or ipod.

There are many Amish households where rap is almost unheard of.

You have plenty of choices. Of course, you choose to complain. To complain is human.

Have you ever thought to just open your mind and give some of it a listen? I recommend you try Mystikal, Little John and the East Side Boyz, or even go old school and listen to some Cypress Hill, NWA, or Queen Latifah.

Why do people put down rap so much? Whats with the hatred? Rap isn't only about cussin', violence and sex. There more to it, and can be very beautiful. I've heard different styles of rap from all over the world, some rap-singing, and it is amazing, as people combine metaphors, similes, double-meanings, and many other symbolic things in there songs. Gabriel O Pensador, from Brazil, uses rap as a vehicle to express his feelings towards the government, its scandals and etc. with amazing lyrics, and in a very educated attitude that appeals to everyone. Many underground rappers preach about their issues growing up in the slums, something i can sympathize, as most my family come from humble origins or the slums of Brazil. Rap isn't just a series of bleeps, and to think so would be out of pure ignorance. To say that is to say that all punks wish suicide, all metal heads desire murder, Jazz listeners are insvolved in the mafia, or classical afficionados are rich and snotty.

Dude, on the one hand, I can feel yr frustration as a diehard rocker.& as that, it's good to know the classics will live on through kids yr age.

But yr a young guy, man. Just 17. In time, you'll mellow out about all that. Every form of music has it's place. (except crap like Paris Hilton pop sh*t. That stuff belongs in hell) But *good* rap is every bit as legit as good rock.

God I'd like to think so. These new American influences of the last 20 years must have come from the musically dyslexic and tone deaf. CRAP ISN'T IT.

RAP isn't really music at all. Spoken words to a beat. Percussive. No song lyrics, no tune. nothing you could remember 30 minutes later. No adherence to a dominant song format. Its simple its not music.

Give me a rock song, a blues number, a jazz piece, a country jingle, a march, a symphony, a disco tune to dance to. An anthem to make the spine tingle. That is music.

Sadly it's in the UK too. I would love to know what they are actually talking about. If you said half of the lyrics on a general day o day basis, you would be locked up under the mental health act, they just don't make any sense. Or perhaps I'm just old

Nah... it's everywhere..
but as i jux DUNNOE says, Asian rap can be quite bearable sometimes, so maybe you could try that as a second alternative.

It will eventually go away and then what will be the next big thing?

Quite unfortunately, no.
They listen to rap in just about every country that plays music.

Be thankful, they play rap music in France, and in French.

It's disturbing.

No, unfortunately, like a cancer Rap has metastasized and can be heard in nearly every country. Ever heard French rap? No? Trust me, you don't want to.

I listened to it once. Some chap was muttering about smacking his b.i.t.c.h up. At least that 's what I think he was saying - he had the microphone too close so it was all distorted.
It was all a bit underwhelming.
Well, shite to be more precise.

Rap is heard in different forms in all continents with the exception of Antarctica. Perhaps you could move to Antarctica.
