what is the origin of these two words being used together?

thats the part i forgot to put in..... rox a box of foxy sox and what nots at fort knox. theyre the same as "those other things".

I believe it is What-not. and refers, originally to a piece or shape of furniture..has come to mean "do-dads' that are used in decorating, such as figurines, junk people place on tables, etc...collectables, general dust catchers.

if you're talking about the two words put together, i think it means "other things". as in, "let's go to the store and whatnot". the translation would be, "let's go to the store and other places."

"What Not" is probab;y canadian we use it alot, it means ecetera (I don't think I spelled that sorrectly but meh)
