It was SHEM (who is NOT the same person as Melchizedek!).

Noah speaks a blessing on him (Genesis 9), and his is the line that leads to Abraham.

Since Noah's sons are listed in the order "Shem, Ham, Japheth" it appears likely that Shem was the oldest.

Notes on the story of Shem & his brothers:

"Shem" is Hebrew for "name", This forms part of an important play on words in Genesis 9-12. People try to "make a name for themselves" by building their own great city [Babel =Babylon] with a tower reaching the skies. But GOD, who thwarts/limits this effort, chooses Abram [later Abraham] from the line of Shem and promises to make HIS name a blessing.

On the other hand, the people connected to the rebellious building of the city of Babylon and other kingdoms, and the major historical enemies of the people of Israel [descendants of Shem through Abraham] are listed in the line of Ham whose behavior is condemned [and whose son is cursed] at the time of Shem's blessing.

Shem (aka Melchizedek)...Japheth and Ham were his other sons....As far as the phrase "Biblical Hope" I am not 100% sure what you mean, but I will answer and say that the "Priesthood line of Authority" went through Shem.
