Water dragons are great! They look similar to an iguana but have the cutest dinosaur looking face. They can get pretty long though (mine was nearly 3 feet). Bearded dragons are very docile reptiles that you can handle easily. They also get to be a good size.

If you want something smaller that you can still handle, try either a leopard gecko or an african fat-tailed gecko. They are great 1st reptiles. They are easy to care for & are quite docile when handled.

Good luck!

A Cobra.... A friend of mine who is Punjabi he had several cobras that he would take the fangs and the venom glands out, so it could not bite or inject any venom. These venomoids are safe and he would handle them, but they would still strike with tremendous force, even with no venom these snakes are scary. When they would strike he could feel air blowing out of where the fangs were at. But they are fun to scare people with and legal in most states, I know California it is only illegal to own a venomous snake, if the snake contains no venom and no fangs it is legal. So I would say a Venomoid Cobra would be the best reptile to own.

Reptiles aren't exactly known for their affection for their owners. I think the absolute best you'll get is a reptile that tolerates you because you feed him and give off warmth. If you want something that plays, steer clear of reptiles.

For a snake, a corn snake or a ball python. They're generally docile and take well to handling. However, you can't play with them sometimes, such as 48 hours after they eat, and at least the first week after getting one, to let it settle.

For a lizard, a bearded dragon would be good. They are gnetle and you can play with them.

A box turtle is a great pet. They live for about 40 years, so make sure you are able to make this a commitment. You can take the turtle out to watch him explore, which can be very entertaining since they move so slowly and they kind of lumber around...especially cool to let them explore outside, weather permitting. Also, they are very low maintenance.

who wants to play with a reptile? Maybe a dog or a kitty, but a reptile? Geeze, I don't know. Go to Florida and play with an alligator. If you have any fingers left, type and let me know how your playing went.

A Berber, it is a cute small reptile, with skin similar to a snake's, and it is 4 legged. It is easy to care for and transmits no deseases.

for lizards I would say iguanas and bearded dragons have the most personality, also Savannah monitors, though not if you have small kids. For snakes i think corn snakes and rosey boas are fun and still stay fairly small.
