Oh, I get that all the time near winter.
It's not on the actual lip, but on top.
Hurts a lot. :(

I use Burt's Bee Wax.
It's kind of thick so it soothes that right up, and then it heals it.
Tasty too.
I suggest Burt's Bee Wax, that's what I use anyway.

I don't think it's worth telling your doctor, but if it's something you have all year long, then you might have a skin condition.

I wish you luck!

I hate berry blistex. The one in the squeezey tube, the medicated one is okay though.

Burt's Bees makes a really good lip balm. Mint and tingly. Carmex is also really good, and it's been around for a million years, so it's stood the test of time.

My lips get a little scaley and peely sometimes around the lip line too. Don't know what it is or why it happens. I do chew my lips, and that's probably why. The burt's almost always works for it.

You need to drink more water. I drink almost 2 gallons a day and finally my skin is back to normal and the chapped lips are history. Now I can always tell when I need water, because my lips will dry out. Hope this helps, GOOD LUCK!

first and foremost
don't use flavored chapstick or lip balm.. this can irritate your skin and make your problem worse. ask a dermatologist about this. there are probably prescription meds for this type of problem.
i sometimes get severely chapped lips, and unflavored chapstick works pretty well. so does vaseline.
good luck =]

You can certainly ask your doctor. Try a chapstick with Aloe. I believe Banana Boat has a chapstick with Aloe, or at least for the summer they did. Try to avoid chapsticks with flavor i.e. : strawberry, peach, mango, etc.

Hope something helps!

Try Burts Bees chapstick. Its beeswax based, no nasty petroleum.

Also wouldnt hurt to take acidophilus - its great for skin ailments.

Carmex works wonders. I keep one in my purse all the time. It is caused from licking them too much.
I hope that this helps, you can get it at Wal-mart for $1.09.
Good Luck
