well first of all ... personally , i dont recognize the UN as being my govt ... they can solve anything they want to as long as they dont try to do so by going over the constitution and bill of rights in my country ... i think we are capable of solving our own problems without the UN...

The most pressing issue that the United Nations has, in my personal opinion, is that they have to rid themselves of corruption and weakness.
The corruption opinion stems from the investigation involving Kofi Annan's son (if I remember correctly, Annan's son was one of the key players) in the Oil For Food corruption scheme that was being played out in Iraq (one of the reasons so many countries were against helping us with Iraq, is because they would have lost off of their corruption monies). Last I had heard, there were numerous UN officials who were ignoring the threat Sadam posed, and ignored the fact that Sadam and his family were going around raping little girls, murdering citizens of Iraq if they even crossed their paths without getting down and worshipping Sadam, etc. The UN officials ignored the fact that when it was time to vote in Iraq, if you did not vote for Sadam, you were immediately murdered (hence the reason Sadam won the elections with 100% of the vote, every single time). The UN turned a blind eye to one of the most corrupt regimes in history, because it was lining their own pockets.
And as for my opinion about the UN being weak-- the UN passed approximately 14 resolutions to stop Sadam from building and amassing Weapons of Mass Destruction (and the UN investigators had proof that he was doing so) and yet 14 resolutions and years later and they were still telling Sadam "If you do not stop we will draw up another resolution and then you will be in big trouble." Well, how many years, and how many resolutions does it take to stop another Hitler from killing all of the Kurds, and raping and mudering women and little girls? The UN is weak. They are more for show than anything else.
I say that we leave the UN, and go it alone for a while-- see where the world goes when the other nations do not have the US billions going into it every year to help everyone else. We could then see exactly how ineffective the UN really is, because while we are protecting other countries, and sending aid to other countries, and rescuing other countries after disasters, the UN can keep writing resolutions about how great they are.
So the most pressing issues for the UN is to get rid of the corruption that still exists there, and to grow a back bone.

The biggest issue for them is how can they solve problems, since they can't agree to do anything

Dissolving the UN. It's an invalid collection of hoodlums and productive nations alike. From raping children to hosting dictators, to unpaid parking tickets -- I've had enough, get rid of it.

i think the most pressing issue for the UN is to see if they can solve the problem with their own ineffectiveness.
