I have an iBuddie XP...well really it is my friends computer, but I am trying to help her out...all I know is that I plugged in the wireless adapter that she has for it, and it didn't read it, so then I went through the help thing on there and it told me how to check the USB but the USB ports said that they were not being read, so then I thought well let me try something that I know works, and I plugged in my memory stick, and that did not work either. So I do not know what is wrong or how I can fix it...can anyone at all be of some assistance, PLEASE?? Thank you so much.

Go to the device manage in Start, Control Panel and see if there is another USB device you can try - ithere is, try it and restart the computer. If that doesn't work go back to the old one - that's all the help I can give.

I really can't help much, hopefully someone can tell you what is the most likely of the easy to fix problems that could cause this

it could be lots of things

it could be the USB driver is not there or is wrong
you find those in the device manager (if you don't know how to look at the device manager you probably shouldn't mess with it at all)

it could be the operating system
old windows operating systems don't support USB

it could be a hardware connection problem in her computer

If the computer is an older model it will only work with USB 1 components. Most USB devices now are USB 2. USB 2 devices will not work on USB 1 machines. You can add cards to older computers and have USB 2 if you have an empty slot.

Try this, right click my computer and hit properties. Hit the hardware tab and go into device manager. Near the bottom it should have usb root/ hub. Anything with USB in the title, right click it and uninstall it. Once all the USB titled item are removed, right click the computer name on the very top and select scan for hardware changes. It will install all the USB items again. Now try your usb devices. Regards.
