What is living in San Diego like? I live in Orlando now and it seems like the cost of living is higher over there. Does the pay keep up with those costs? Is it worth it to move out there? What is interesting or unique about living in San Diego?

Living in San Diego is great! We have a pretty diverse economy, pay seems pretty good, cost of living is ok EXCEPT for the housing market, which is absolutely ridiculous. If you want to own a home, look elsewhere or wait, as only about 11% of San Diegans can afford to own a home (median home price $550K). If you don't mind renting, are willing to own a condo, make a lot of $$$, or are willing to wait for house prices to come down, living in San Diego is great. House prices are my only gripe. I love love love the weather, which is very moderate all year round, and San Diego has beautiful beaches, a thriving city life, lots of green, and is filled with laid-back people. It's a great place to raise kids (other than the cost of living).

San Diego also has a world-famous zoo and Legoland. We have SeaWorld, but so do you in Florida. Our nightlife is pretty good, we have tons of fantastic restaurants, and our universities (UCSD, SDSU, and USD) are also great. We have lots of racial diversity here and are near to local wineries and casinos. There are just too many great things in San Diego to list! =)

Even though I love SD, whether it's worth it for you to move out here depends on the type of income you're likely to be earning, and your housing preferences since the only major drawback to SD is housing prices.
