Just curious because it seems like it was a huge fad for a short time, but I haven't heard much about it for a while. Did it just burn out or are people still really into it?

I only play in on my kids DS. You can play it on the Brain Age Game. It is true I kind of got bored with it and I only play it every so often.
But my mom loves to play it in the newspaper I finally got her a couple of books. Though she doesn't usually have much else to do.

Yes. My college's newspaper has two new Sudoku's everyday. One is easy, the other is hard.

Some people are still into it, but like a lot of other things new games come into view and old ones fade.

Samurai sudoku ( http://www.sudokulist.com/ordering/MMHome.asp?prod=4 )

Jigsaw samurai sudoku ( http://www.sudokulist.com/ordering/MMHome.asp?prod=5 )

Kakuro ( http://www.sudokulist.com/ordering/MMHome.asp?prod=6 )

Masyu (http://www.sudokulist.com/ordering/MMHome.asp?prod=7 )

Hitori (http://www.sudokulist.com/ordering/MMHome.asp?prod=8 )

Nurikabe (http://www.sudokulist.com/ordering/MMHome.asp?prod=9 )
