Superman was first portrayed on radio and cartoons by game show legend Bud Collyer in the forties. Kirk Allyn played the role in the 1940's movie serial. And George Reeves played the icon in the 1950's TV series.

George Reeves on that earlier TV show, was it in the 50's? Yeah, it was. By the way, he has no relation to Christopher Reeves who played 90's superman and now theres Brandon Routh who is the new superman.
