Anibal Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez of the Marlins were traded for Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett to the Red Sox. Jeff Suppan was traded to the Red Sox in 2003 for Freddie Sanchez, who leads the NL in batting. Suppan stayed with the Red Sox for 2 months then signed with the Cardinals. Sanchez is still with the Pirates. Cla Meredith and Josh Bard probably will be with the Padres for years. The Red Sox need Doug Mirabelli for catching Tim Wakefield who has been out much of this year. The Red Sox have to do for now. The Marlins have won two recent World Series by having the luxury of building for tomorrow.
