Not academically, of course. I mean socially. Here and now all of the attractive and smart girls are always the ones remaining single.
Everyone seems somewhat idiotic, vapid, and shallow.
They all say that once you leave highschool no one cares that you had never been kissed. Is this true?

Socially, it doesnt mean anything to anyone who is not currently attending your particular high school (and even then, it matters more to some than to others). Once you graduate, the only things that will ever matter are your grades. And if you go to college, even your grades won't matter afterwards, only your college GPA will.

Once you're in the real world (especially college), no one will know (or care) who you dated, if you dated, how popular you were, etc... People who still talk about high school after they have graduated really have nothing else to show for their lives. Especially if they are still talking about it 10-20 years after. Like Al Bundy, a middle aged man who's defining moment in life was a HS football game.

And if it is REALLY important to you (and it really shouldn't be), but if it is important, you can always lie about it after you graduate. Who is going to know? Or care?

Oh, it matters, all right. It can ruin more lives than any other institution I can think of, especially if we are speaking of public schools.

Who stays single and who gets married is a very much more complex issue than you might think. And of course they seem idiotic, vapid and shallow. They ARE idiotic, vapid and shallow, for the most part. That is what is modeled in the mass media and that -- or worse -- is what they are. The worse to which I refer are those that get themselves involved in the criminal justice system, one way or another. Or the psychiatric institutions. Or the coroner's office.

At that rate, simply being immature doesn't seem so bad, actually. But persevere, and someday you can go to college and study what you are interested in, leaving aside most of what bores and annoys you. Most, but not all.

The social issues do not matter the second you receive that diploma. You will be SO surprised how many people you will no longer see after you graduate. Focus on YOU and what YOU care about and think is most important. Those cliques will be no where near you after high school.

High School is probably one of the most important things you can endure, and endure is what you will have to do...learn well, learn to speak, to write, math, everything you can. AS far as cliques go, I agree..it is about who is getting laid by whom, a constant girl vs girl thing that you can avoid at all costs...bring little of value into your life. And, if you are careful, you will not be the butt of the girl's joke on a specific day. Not all girls are like this, but enough of them are..their only interest is having a bf, for some reason, they think that is the only thing in life that counts, are willing to do anything and everything to get one, or keep on...very, very stupid. Dont' fall into the trap. Good luck, and use your head.

Not really socially. Its all about apperance in high school. As well as cliques. But its funny when after school is done and over. Most of the pretty popular girls get fat and bitter and all those who are not up to par yet, grow out of their ugly duckling stage and become beautiful women. (I said most not all) Just keep your head up high, get involved with school activities and keep up on your studies. Its gonna work out for the best. Good luck! Its only a few years, get what you can out of high school. It will be the best years of your life once you start to enjoy it.

most marriages fail about 75% now so chances are at some point in your life you are going to be single.
My parents keep telling me this.
so get good grades and take your pill. Go to VOTECH or college and get a good job. That is very sexy to a man.
Because you can afford a good car. Then when you are secure think about marriage and boys. So after he leaves you with 2 or 3 kids to raise alone you can get a good job and don't have to go on welfare. Which I don't think they have anymore.
After these guys get married to the cheer leader types and divorced they will want a sensible women with a career and knows where she is going. then they will make a good husband.

High school doesn't really matter once you graduate, unless you are still trying to hold onto the past like those popular kids who never make anything of themselves after high school or those that miss attention.

No, in the scheme of life high school is overrated. I graduated in 2001 and I see people from high school once in a while but they don't seem like they're too successful and though I'm usually glad to see them it doesn't bring back high school nostalgia.

Yes, it is true that your high school years are only a preparation, and once you get out, everybody changes a lot. So, it really doesn't matter, unless you "live for" those class reunions, which are usually very boring.

Socially, high school is extremely important for your development.

It isn't necesarilly positive. I hated high school, and I nearly vomit every time I see the building.
But it is definately better to put students through the social horror of high school in their teen years than it would be to try to prepare them for the real world.
