Of late due to adultration chlorine is found in Diesel, how can one check this at any given place. say for eg we check acidic / alkaline by litmus papers.

Diesel is adultrated by kerosene, which before added has undergone a chemical change, where in the color from Blue to white by adding chlorine

the simplest method to confirm for presence of chlorine is to acidify the sample with dilute nitric acid and add between 2-4 drops of a solution of silver nitrate this is the only method used that is simple and fast to determine chlorine content in water may be it might help you with your sample of fuel

Do you mean chlorine gas or do you mean some compound that is called "chlorine" but in fact just contains chlorine and smells like chlorine?

Why would anyone adultrate Diesel fuel with chlorine?
