I have filed a sexual harrassment complaint through the Human resourcces department and now, with my Mother dying, I had to take a leave of absence and the request was denied and now they are making me jump through hoops to get this done. I beleive they are trying to get rid of me because of a previous complaint... help!

Do you qualify under either state or federal law for protection? The chances are that you have either wrongfully or justifiably pushed the envelope too far with your harassment complaint. If your employer is like most small businessmen (and some large,) he doesn't like "troublemakers." If your charges about harassment are bonafide, you should get an attorney involved. The actions regarding family leave are reinforcing the harassment. On the other hand, are you just someone who likes to complain?

Look up their number and call them. But if you are complaining that they denied you Family Medical leave... Honestly it depends on the size of your company. FMLA does not apply to smaller companies!

Tell your employer you are taking a leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act - it's an unpaid leave most likely but if they refuse it they have federal labor problems too.

Contact your state's Attorney General's office, but also get a lawyer.... what they are doing is both wrong and illegal.
