Not everybody chokes up, but it is fairly common. Music is cosiddered by some to be the most "pure" form of communication, especially emotional communication. When someone puts a great deal of emotion into a piece of music, it can "bleed over" to you because some part of your subconscious recognizes its presence.

Personally, I choke up with some classical music, and with some of the songs from "Les Miserables." Really good symphonic power metal also affects me, but its more of an adrenaline rush. My hair stands on end and sometimes my whole body seems to "thrum" like a plucked string or a really high voltage live wire.

Yea, that happened to me this morning. I was getting a YouTube video for a friend of mine, and I was overwhelmed. The late Luther Vandross was singing a duet with Aretha, "A House is not a Home". I've never seen any one show the love like that, and it blew me away. It's hard to believe Luther is gone.
