What is the status of SB 1437 (homosexuality in school textbooks)?

Did Schwarzenegger pass or veto it?

This was the bill forcing schools to teach about homosexuality, transgendered, etc. There are several other bills which even affect private Christian schools. Do you have a link listing all these? I've been searching and found which have passed but can't find info on all. Thanks

I've read lotsa different stuff and can't find the bill itself. I've read that homosexuality etc will be taught. One site says, "include only materials which accurately portray the gender and sexual diversity, as well as the currently required cultural and racial diversity of our society, and materials that portray the contributions of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender to the economic, political, and social development of the state and the country."

Actually, that's not what SB 1437 says. So, if you're looking for a law that requires schools to teach homosexuality, you'll have to get your Assemblyman to propose one.

All SB 1437 says is that textbooks must be neutral on the subject, and cannot discriminate against or insulst any sexual orientation.

Existing law prohibits adverse discrimination based on race, sex, color, creed, handicap, national origin, or ancestry. SB 1437 revises the list to prevent adverse discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, disability, nationality, sexual orientation, or religion.

Current status is that it was given to the Governor Tuesday 4pm.
