I know he's a great artist. Please tell me what you think of his ability to use his instrument.

I'm asking about his technical skills. That's all I'm asking. Please don't bother telling me anything else for this question.

Amazing guitar player. Underrated due to the hippie mystique that followed the band. Great improvising and classic blues touch.

No, he is an artist and not very good at people skills or verbal or technical ability. I should know I am an artist and stink at P=I xE, and I before E except after C and square root of 36 is 5, etc.

For the kind of music he did he was one of the greats!! But as far as being technical theres others that are out there from the ols school that were technically better. Steve Vai ,Jeff Beck to name some.

He, like all great icons, didn't have to be "technically great". His tone and movements stand out ALONE. He used mainly the major scales (like Frampton).

I could pick his tone out of a 1000 guitarist line-up.

I don't think he was that great of a guitarist. Don't get me wrong, he did some real feel good music but I think most of it was the lsd that made people like it.
