Black people in rock music...look at the start of rock music. You've got people like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc. As far as modern groups - Fishbone, Living Color, Bad Brains, Body Count...there's heavy bands with black frontmen like Sevendust or God Forbid...
Speaking as a white person, I'm not a huge fan of rap, but I love R&B - Rap stuff I like? Cypress Hill, Busta Rhymes...
R&B - stuff like Earth Wind & Fire, The Commodores, Rick James, Prince (OLD), newer stuff...Brian McKnight
What about hip-hop? Tribe Called Quest, Jurassic 5, The Roots...
I think that maybe in the past, it was a little more stereotypical - you tend to listen to what you hear around you...but with the internet, you have access to absolutely ANYTHING. You can choose for yourself what you like and what you don't like.
I was lucky growing up - my mom is Scottish, and she listened to EVERYTHING! Was I made fun of listening to EW&F as a kid? Yes I was. Did I care? NO I DIDN'T.

Some whites do like rap and R&B and some blacks do like rock and pop music. Each person is different and has their own preference.

Well I'm black and yes I'm into R'nB but it doesn't mean all black people are into rap. It depend s on the individual, race doesn't matter. But I think the majority of black people are into rap because this sort of genre of music started out from black people. I'm into all sorts other than country, all dat emo crap like heavy metal, it's just not music (no offence). Rock's alright.

First stereotypes are assumptions made by uneducated people.
Blacks, white, spanish, whatever race like what ever music they like. People say blacks like Rap and R&B only but little do people know that alot of rap and r&b beats are samples of rap, country, rock, gospel, jazz and so forth. This stereotype should of been dead along time ago....

It depends on the person not the race. I'm white and I hate rap and hip hop. I know a lot of white people that listen to rap.

Rock (also called white man music) and Rap (Also called Black Music) are made to critic the legacy of man. Rock is the white mans way of viewing the world. And Rap is the black way. White mans Rock views life in varied ways. Sometimes with dark rage, beatiful softness, or sweet loving sounds.
While on the other hand, black man music, focuses on women and women's body parts and how the jiggle when they shake it. The black man views life in a sort of skewed way. With sex and violence. Even when the rapper rapping is 5'3" (you hear me Lil' Bow-wow?) they will rap about being "Hard" and from the "Streets" talk a little about drugs (50 cent loves ecstacy) and then throw in the sex.
Allin all... You are at least 51% white... maybe a little more seeing how you dislike the music.
But basicly the sterotypes hold true = ) and btw... I'm not a racist!
