it seems that society sends mixed messages,
how can we be governed by morals if our economy is based on image

Sexualized children are heavier consumers. They buy more clothes, make-up, they start smoking and drinking younger. So in my opinion a great deal of the blame can be placed on the advertising industry, which famously lacks a conscience.

There is a real tendency for people to simply accept the images of advertising as unavoidable; after all, it's just business. A parent that might object to sexual content in a song or movie will simply not even notice a more insideous version of it in advertising. In a way, advertising is sacred in our society.

The music and movie industries are deeply affiliated to the ad industry. The gaming industry is as well.

There is a kind of feedback that comes in to the equation where the problem gets worse with each new generation exposed to the relentless bombardment of commercial objectivization. The threshold of awareness is eroded as parents raised on the advertising blitz find it harder and harder to defend their young. They eventually stop seeing the need for it.

I've worked in advertising. I've been in conference rooms where this stuff was being hashed out. It's real and deliberate. We have sacrificed our morality at the alter of consumerism.

I agree with an earlier poster. It will lead ultimately to a very morally and intellectually chaotic society.

Not a popular answer, I suppose, but it's what one man sees evidenced before him.

the gung ho! and everything goes is here ,and shall soon be out!
The media has destroyed the moral practice and values. and we must hold the media accountable for this shame in which they have brought upon the children!

NEXT
the fashion designers are held responsible and it all started with no differentiation of children clothing and adult clothing this is also shameful!
you see you cant tell who's a child and who's an adult anymore!
and so the children begin to emulate what the see hear feel and smell! Believe this!!

The home is no long where to teach proper conduct and the parents fail to behave properly and also teach with a strong hand and kind heart! The streets are now the teacher, the morals are as weak as they have ever been I am almost sure of it!

The children acts on what they see at home!
parents are failing the children and the children are failing themselves!
Sure they are lost! We should and i try to change the young mind set!
conduct, morality and respect for all things is what must be instilled in them early! Children has no fear of anything, and lust for acceptance and this is bigger than we can even imagine!
there is no discipline in homes of children! Which means they are free to do as will, with absolutely no consequence except death by another child who believe he can do what the videos do and what the music says and what is bragged about all over!

we must allow not only parents but teachers friends relative and neighbors to chastise the children when wrong is witnessed and then fear must be instilled in the children to remain proper with conduct and actions!
the government told parent what they can and cannot do, the nations biggest mistake ever!!

remember this saying: I BROUGHT YOU HERE I'LL TAKE YOU OUT!
Hay that was believed and instilled respect in the child's heart and they behaved and represented the home!
you know i say each one teach many!! is the solution!

and now the media has also assassinated other countries and continents all over the world, what the parent try to teach the child is over powered by the need to be accepted and the will to do what is most popular and this is sad!

Mainly because sex, sex appeal and anything related to sex can be found practically everywhere in the society of today. If it makes money and sells, it gets really popular. This can be said for sex and sexual appeal. A movie with no sex scene? Eh...it was okay. A movie with a sex scene? Woah, dude! That movie was awesome! You see what I mean? I wonder if it's true whether or not ratings go up if a television show adds in a good amount of sex and sex appeal and anything sexual. I was watching this fantasy-comedy show, and these two girls wearing skin-tight revealing costumes were on the screen. One of them said, "Why are we wearing such sexy outfits?" The other replied, "Because it'll attract more young male viewers." Yes indeed, society has drastically changed over the years. Nowadays, words considered to be taboo and to be swear and curse words back then are used all the time and are thought nothing of. With each generation, the kids are more and more exposed to new things that some grandparents wouldn't have known until they were in high school. This is helped by the factor of older siblings, school, and even parents. Older siblings are a younger brother or sister's top role model when they're growing up (or at least they should be). If they're older enough to be doing sexual things with a girlfriend or boyfriend, then the younger sibling would pick up on it, especially if the older sibling tells them about it. Also, in school, they now have computers in kindergarten. Imagine that. Since they've been introduced to computers at such an early age, they've also been probably introduced to the internet, basically the top main source for sexual-related things from chatrooms to porno vids. Also, it depends on what the parents allow their child to do. If they allow their child to do whatever they want on the web and watch whatever they want, them being exposed to sex wouldn't be one bit surprising. Also, I believe that some children do or think about sexual things without even knowing what they're truly about; they just believe it's a natural feeling that they don't even know the meaning of. For example, a young child may kiss another on the lips and grab each other, but they're just thinking of it as playing and nothing more. Like "having" sex without knowing it (I wouldn't go as far as that with young children, but you never know these days...). The main weapon being used against children, however, is the television, which has overall replaced the ancient relic known as the book. Turned to the right channel, one could pick up many sexual things and see a lot of sexual stuff, and right then and there they're exposed to it. SO, IF ANYTHING, blame it on the parents and the adults, NOT ON THE CHILDREN.

Also, humans have sexual urges from the moment of birth (well, almost). Young children may not know how to decipher them and are sometimes misled by them, but either way, they're there. Sexual urges are what drive us to have sex in front of our children, whether we care or not. Sexual urges are what drive us to touch and grasp another, almost to the point of death, to rape another. Humans are born with these natural urges and feelings and emotions, and I believe that this is the strongest emotion of them all, and it influences the flow of the Earth, and makes it go round and round and round. Money and love may make the world go round, but sexual urges, along with many other dark thoughts, are the core of its axis.

Christians have suppressed it so much in the past , that it is blasting now. I think nothing could be done about it because of your life style. Children are imitating their elders who are busy doing these things (freely like an animal) in front of child.
You people don't know what is the meaning of shame, embarrassment, respect etc which is needed to learn the lesson of morality.

We cant. I don't think we will ever be able to get to the way we were. Society does send mixed signals, kids can and do get to this information at younger ages. Welcome to progress I guess

because unfortunately, we allow it
as well, we are often made to feel prudish, uneducated, strict and old fashioned when we do raise an eyebrown or ask a question - and so the moral, silent majority continues to languish in it's own supposed safety net

be careful - total rebellion and anarchy is just around the corner.

humans are sexual beings from bilrth. that being said children are exposed to sex more than they used to be , you can't turn on the tv any more without sexy commercials or watch a tv show without seeing half naked girls and guys making out. what the heck do we expect out of our children when thats all they see.
