I've heard stories of people who have abused drugs in their youth and their spouces have learned to deal with it and forget. My girlfriend has recently started to drink and I don't know how to get over it. We've been together for several years and I do not fear her being unfaithful, but this makes me very uncomfortable. Any help is appreciated.

How often is she drinking and does she know how you feel about her drinking? Be honest with her and tell her how you feel. Maybe if she knows that it is really bothering you she will stop. It shows that you really care alot about her. If she is drinking socially or occassionally, its not too bad, but if you are against it for religious reasons, she should understand that. If she is abusing alcohol, she needs to see about getting help through AA (Alcohol Anonymous) I hope that she listens to you and knows that you love her enough to want her to stop drinking. Good luck!

If it is that bad, then I would tell her that you can't stay around and watch her anymore destroy herself............Trust me! My Dad was an alcoholic...He was so hard to live with, and to see.
Tell her you will go to 3 AA meetings with her( she may need you to do that), and then you are done because it hurts you also...Trust me, if she doesn't want to lose yu she will at least try to get help now b/4 it is too late, Good luck hon!
