no screen no speakers no keyboard no mouse just the pc with lots of ram

This is a great machine. It can run all modern OSes including OSX, Windows, and Linux. You can use your existing monitor, USB keyboard and mouse, and it takes up very little space.

Look for recycled computer stuff in your home town. We have plenty of them, very cheap, at California Grey Bears in Santa Cruz, but I can't imagine the Grey Bears are the only ones reconditioning and selling old (not very old, either) donated computers.

cheapy cheapy machines can usually be found at your local pawn shop or goodwill. If you something a little less tainted than you can try newegg.com or tigerdirect.com. they usually sell near bare bone pc's
