I click on yahoo tv from the home page and then choose a program from the listing how do I start watching it? or can't I?

There are two different issues in your question:
1. The yahoo TV link just shows listings for television programs in your area. You cannot "link" to the program to watch it.
2. To watch television on your PC, just add a television card to your PC and then connect it to an antenna or cable to provide the signal. Then you will be watching television on your PC.

Yep, need a card and some software.
It's pretty cool tho, you can have nine different shows tiled on your screen or just one in the corner while you are ... typing in Y! Answers.

It should open the real time player in your computer.
