A generic MP3 player functions like a USB thumb drive, you dump files to it MP3 or EXE or whatever, when playing, the player will know which is music file which is data based on the content.

You should of got some software to help you upload your music on your player. Basically al lyou do when you have your software installed is drag and drop your songs into your playlist. If you have a USB mp3 player like a thumb drive there might not be any software, but the process is basically the same, just drag and drop.
