I'm Australian - mature aged male, married with family
Can you tell me under what conditions I'd have a fair chance of getting a Green Card to live in the United States??

maybe you can get one. see if there is a lottery in australia, some countries have greencard lotteries.

At this time, Aussies have a decent chance of getting in on a green card IF you have a skill that is needed by an employer here. That is the fastest route to get in..find an employer that has a great problem getting a position filled, have the talent, and you are a shoe in. Good luck OR, you could fly to Mexico, and just walk over the border! Sad, but true.

I really don't know what the stipulations are to obtain a green card is but if all you say is true, mature, married w/family, of course you work right? Anyway, if you have something to offer the states and will be a productive individual then come on down.

Try for the green card lottery. It starts in October.

Depends on your skill and education. Unskilled, you're better off jumpin' the fence with the Mexicans.

Forget it. Only criminals, illegals, muslim terrorists, and drug dealers can get green cards in America now.

You have to show them you are a productive member of society. Show them that you have something to offer.
