Your printer should have come with a CD which contained the drivers for it. So, when setting up the printer, you click the button that says "Have disk". Then browse to your CD-ROM drive and you should be good to go.

If your computer does not accept the particular model printer you've purchased you'll have to return it and buy one that does.
Go to Settings, click on printers, and right click once on the "add printer" icon. You'll see a list of brands and models compatible with the computer to which you're attempting to connect a printer. If you don't see the one you trying to hook up listed, it won't work. But usually there are many models/brands that will. Go to Staples, Office Max, Circuit City, etc, and ask a sales rep to help you pick one out that is compatible. Be sure you can tell the sales rep. what kind of computer you have. Hope this helps.

The brand of the printer doesn't have to match the brand of the computer. All that matters is that the printer can connect to the computer. This will be by: 1) a USB cable or 2) a older type of cable that connects the printer to the LPT port on the back of the computer. Most modern computers have a USB port, so it should be easy to hook it up.

There are a few things to try. You can manually insert the cd for the printer and load it. If you do have it you go to the web site of the brand and download the start cd. I also have tried and it has worked to download the same brand on your pc with a similar model # and tried a few and eventually one will print correctly. You will know when it is not gibberish. Hope this helps.

You should be able to install it just by using the disk that came with the printer.
More information may be needed to answer the question.

q implies you don't driver CD that came with printer and are being prompted to specify driver location. no probs virually all drivers can be dowloaded. google the name of the printer plus the words "drive downloads". try to identfy the model you have specifically. download the driver to a location you can easily browse to eg desktop. run download if it is .exe if not then connect printer and when prompted confirm "search for driver". if that fails when prompted browse to storage location.

The printer itself should have come with an installation disc...if it didn't contact the manufacturer and obtain a copy...you can also check the manufacturer's website...it may be there too
