I am 15. I came home from school today and my mom has trashed my jeans. I can only wear shorts for gym, otherwise its skirts and dresses. Do any of you have parents like this?

My mom wants me to be more "girly"!!!

It's not even that I am really a tomboy even. We just clash because I am too indepdent for her. She stopped me from taking karate classes this summer. It's her way of controlling me.

Wow... That's wrong... You are a different person than your sister. You have your own personality. It sounds like your parents are very superficial... What's wrong with short hair? I know plenty of girls that have short hair, me included. It's about 2 inches above my shoulders. Short hair is just as pretty as long hair. The outfit they are making you wear doesn't sound horrible, but they still shouldn't make you change the way you dress. It should be your choice. And I'm just saying... Your sisters outfit sounds like something that should be on What Not to Wear! It sounds hideous. And about the guys... Shouldn't a guy like you for you and not for the way you dress? Shouldn't they realize that as your parents? Next time they say something about the way you dress, go on the internet and show them all the guys who dress exactly like you do.. Maybe you should also look up the definition of gothic and educate them a little.. I mix American Eagle with my PacSun and Hot Topic stuff to make my parents happy.. They don't like my band shirts and converse and eyeliner, but they get over it because its my life. It sounds like your parents want you to dress like a sl*t actually.. Anyway.. I'm sorry your parents are like that.. Just tell them it's your life and you will dress how you want. Even if they make you dress like that, take some other stuff to the party and change when you get there. Hope this helps! =)

Wow, my mom doesnt like it when i wear short skirts and plus, its cold where I live so i dont wear skirts much anyways. If shes not going to let you wear jeans then wear your pajama bottoms everywhere until she agrees to let you dress the way you want. I understand if she doesnt want you to dress in revealing clothes, but JEANS?? Thats just wrong, talk to her about it and have her take you shopping and get her approval for any pants/jeans that you buy. If she insists on you being more girly then show her girly by having her buy you a pair of jeans with beads and sequins on it. (girly jeans?)

No, not at all, I wear what I wanna wear. I wear jeans now and then, but I don't like skirts, nor shorts, but thats wrong, u oughta buy some jeans in cash, rip the recept, and stash the jeans somewhere, where she won't find it !

Damn girl, I am sorry. Maybe it's religious reasons b/c I see girls in my school wearing NOTHING BUT dresses but that is based on their religion. You should talk to your Mom about it & tell her it's like something that like everyone wears.. EVEN boys haha it's a stlyle.. if not dresses & skirts are very feminime . It's all good. Don't worry : ]

No, have you tried asking your mother why she has made this choice. My parents don't, but in some religions girls must wear skirts and dresses. I personally, don't agreee with that, enless it's sunday mournings or an event where you should dress up.

I'm very "girly" and I like to wear skirts, but not dresses. My parents do like that I wear skirts, but they don't force me to. You should talk to your parents about not forcing you.

No offense, but your mom has serious issues! My mom tried to make me into a girly girl, but by the age of 9, I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress. She stopped buying them after I refused to wear them. no one likes something that is forced on them.

My mom has never been like that , as a matter of fact she'd always buy me jeans etc.

I guess it depends on the parents, maybe your mom was raised that way by your grandma?
