sweet almond oil has a complex carbohydrate (sugar) in it to preserve the oil. All oil from food will rot if not hydrogonated or stablized from the effects of decomposition. Olive oil is the only food oil that is naturally stabilized by it's molecular structure.

extra virgin is best as it isn't refined. and although olive oil is good for the hair, coconut oil is better (and if put in properly, you don't have to wash it out until your next shower. But if you're going to do this, make sure it's warm/hot, massage into scalp. when you rinse it out, wash normally then rinse in cold water. And if you want to spread the natural oils already in your hair to help make it healthier, get a boar hair brush. After untangling dry hair you brush each section 50-100 times being sure to go from the scalp (to massage and to aid hair growth) down to the tips (to help prevent split ends). You have to clean the brush once a week to once every 2 weeks as it takes debris from your hair and you don't want it going back in. Just rinse it while you're in the shower with water and shampoo then lay bristles down on towel to dry. You may also want to start taking a vitamin that is especially for hair or a prenatal vitamin and limit washing to twice a week or wait until the day after your hair gets too greasy. Washing too often strips your hair of the natural oils that keeps it healthy and actually makes it greasier faster.
