I think the moment you close your mind to new ideas and concepts, and not allow freedom of expression, is the moment you begin your quest to become a fool.

Jealousy is all i can think of because they can't face the truth when they know it's the truth so they have to get all pouty and upset about it.

They're seeking validation, not an actual answer. By not predicting the "correct" response, you not only deprive them of what they want, but crush their pitiful, under-developed psyche in the process. This causes them to lash out in the only way that they can: mildly insulting spam written in poorly assembled L337-5P34K and txt slng.

I get more upset when the answers are rude and/or insulting. There's simply no need for that. You can express your opinion without being rude.

I have to agree with your addition to your question.... People dont want to believe that the world doesnt think like them. They are so used to their brains working one way, it is hard for them to accept any new ideas or concepts...

Because they think they are right and can't handle the truth, my friend and I have discussions about our different religions and she gets very very upset when i say i don't think god exists, it is horrible how rude she gets, its just an opinion too!!

pride, pride, pride - that's the only reason. It's hard to admit that we're wrong. We have to swallow our pride and say: " hey, that's OK that I'm not right". When someone admits they're wrong - that tells you a lot about their character (and vice versa)
