alarms have a vibration sensor inside them. when the wind blows too hars it shakes the car and triggers the alarm. when a loud vehicle drives by it the noise vibrates the sensor and sets it off. a cat could jump on your car and produce enough vibration to set it off.it also monitors electrical voltage levels. if someone opens a door the interrior light will come on and trigger the alarm.well sometimes your on board computer will run tests of turn certain features on or off, your alarm can sometimes pick up this electrical change and interprit it as a possible break in.hope this helped

inside the car is movement sensors(for if a window is broken) if the car is rocked then the seat belts moving can set and alarm off, also if you leave the air vents open ,when parked the wind can blow through setting them off..a small thing like an air freshener moving can set a alarm off if the sensors are set to really sensitive

They dont........there is always a reason...an electrical contact is made and the alarm sounds.......the question is what causes that contact to make?
