I personally think private schools are better, because the number of students in each class are usually much smaller, therefore the teacher can provide more one-on-one time with the students. I also feel there is less violence in the private schools because the parents are having to pay out of the pocket, and therefore the parents each share the same attitudes that they convey to their children."They go to school for an education, not a popularity contest." There seems to be less discipline problems in private schools. Not always the case, but more often than not. However, public schools have advantages too. Mine all went to public schools, but I often wished I could afford to send them to private schools.

Well, here's the deal. I went to private school for twelve years, I then taught in public school. It was a BIG difference. I found the public school kids to be more brazen, disrespectful and rude (not all but about 20-30%). Private school kids know how to follow the rules and treat teachers with respect or they get kicked out.
I think private schools are safer as far as violence but you get a better, more well-rounded education at public schools. You also go to school with your neighbors.
Private school is hard... you don't get to know the kids in your neighborhood as much and no matter what anyone says, the education from a private school is substandard.
Does that help???
ps. My children are attending public school!

Private school but that's depending on case to case basis. If your parents cannot afford sending you to private school, public school might be more reasonable. If the travel is too far to go to private school, think of pros and cons what's really beneficial. Compare the private and public school in your area. The public school might offer more facilities bec. more funds from government or the other way around.

Public. It's much cheaper to attend, and the kids get better teachers. I work at a top rate private school, and most of the teachers have no experience and get reprimanded all the time.
My son, one niece and one nephew all attend public school ... all are in extra-curricular activities, and all are honor students. My other niece and nephew went to private parochial school thru 8th grade, and are both now struggling with both classwork and social skills in high school. In fact, my nephew just spent a month in juvenile hall for beating up some kid that talked to his girlfriend ... this is a first in this family ... he is now on 1 year probation and still doesn't understand what he did was wrong.
His mother sent him to private school so that he wouldn't end up like that, yet at the school he went to most of the kids were, and still are, little hoodlums (white kids pretending to be gang-bangers).

public school because that way you can have more friends, and instead of going from a small private school to a huge public school which is pretty hard (it happened to me)...so i enjoy public school more

Public school gives you a better perspective of the real world. Private school is too sheltered. Of course, either school would teach you how to spell the word, WHAT.
